A ‘Songs of Praise’ is being recorded ‘as live’ for the BBC by Avanti Media at Methodist Central Hall Westminster on Sunday morning 5th November for broadcast at some time in the future.
Deputy Superintendent and Media Chaplain, Revd Tony Miles, said,
‘We are delighted that a Songs of Praise programme will be coming from MCHW, and we would welcome help from anyone who could join us to swell the congregation. We wouldn’t want to take significant numbers of people away from their Sunday morning services, but if one or two people from each of our London churches came to help us on this one occasion, it would make a significant difference."
The service will hopefully feature four of Charles Wesley’s hymns, Jazz Vespers from the Dan Forshaw Sextet, and the Methodist Central Hall Westminster choir – led by Director of Music, Gerard Brooks.
Those interested in participating, should register their interest at SOPcongregations@avantimedia.tv We will be gathering at 10.30, for a 10.45 start on what promises to be a joyous act of worship and witness to our faith. We are encouraging people to wear national dress, where appropriate, to celebrate our diversity in London. There will also be a Songs of Praise Gospel Choir of the Year programme recorded at MCHW the same evening, if people are interested in attending that too – but it is the morning where we need the most help.
